Turbo tournaments have grown in popularity over the past few years on PokerStars. From single table tournaments to multi-table tournaments, you can find tens of thousands of players every day on the site playing the aforementioned games with various turbo structures attached. For quite some time now players have been asking for a turbo oriented tournament series on PokerStars. Many thought it would never happen, but they were luckily wrong. PokerStars recently announced that the inaugural Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) will kick off on January 19th and run until January 29th.  The series will comprise of 50 events with $10 million in guaranteed prize pools.

The events will run the gamut of variations including 6-max, knockouts, big antes, 2x chance and more. As well, there will be regular turbo, 2x-turbo, 3x turbo, and hyper-turbo events. Good luck finding this much variation in online video poker!

PokerStars has done a great job of making their tournament series accessible to players at all buy-in levels. TCOOP will be no different as buy-ins will range from $5.50 to $2,100 with the majority of buy-ins being $320 and under. The main event will be a $700 buy-in with a $1.5 million guarantee. This means that $150,000 has already been guaranteed for the eventual winner.

There have been no announcements yet about a player of the series leaderboard but it has been said that one will exist. These kinds of leaderboards have been the cornerstones of past PokerStars series and are great at motivating players to work to lock up the prizes.
