Five Diamond World Poker Classic won by James Dempsey

A lot of the allure of poker tournaments, whether on the PKR download or live, is the fact that just about anyone can win. The excitement of winning a big poker tournament is a feeling that can’t be matched. Sometimes the allure causes final tables to be filled with relative unknowns while sometimes the final table is full of established and talented pros. The Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic fell under the latter category.

One of the big stacks going into the final table was Soi Nguyen, a former November Niner that has enjoyed continued success since his Main Event. He has made several final tables since then.

Joining Nguyen were Andrew Lichtenberger and Vanessa Selbst, a couple established poker pros that have excelled at the highest levels in poker both in brick-and-mortars and on the best US poker sites. Also there was Antonio Esfandiari, who won this exact event in 2010. The lone amateur going into the final table was Vitor Coelho, the short stack.
