If you play online poker, you have probably been following all the problems with Full Tilt Poker since last year. For a while everyone thought that Groupe Bernard Tapie might buy and rebuild the site, something that the poker community desperately needs. Not only would this ensure that people receive their money back, it also would provide a chance for Full Tilt to become one of the US poker sites available to Americans once again.
This solution no longer has any potential, however. Despite negotiations that went for as long as seven months, the U.S. Department of Justice and Groupe Bernard Tapie discontinued their talks as of late April. It is reported that the DOJ disliked how Groupe Bernard Tapie intended on paying players back. This comes as no surprise since the group was planning on forcing people with balances over $100 to play on the site to “earn” their money back. They were also going to be subjected to penalties for inactivity.

Read MoreIf you are a fan of online poker rooms, you are likely in tune with the fact that Full Tilt has had licensing issues since June. This past Friday the Kahnawake Gaming Commission gave the site a renewal of their Secondary Client Provider Authorization for a two year period.
Many poker players were confused upon hearing that Full Tilt Poker was licensed at all by Kahnawake. Kahnawake is the same commission that licenses Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker, the home of several scandals. Cereus once hosted some of the best Mac poker sites online, but nothing constructive has been heard from the them regarding Americans since April 15th. This is, of course, something they have in common with Full Tilt.
Despite the fact that Full Tilt was able to renew their secondary license, their primary license from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) is still suspended and pending an upcoming hearing. This hearing was originally supposed to take place last month, but it was rescheduled to mid-September.

The small island of Alderney is a British Protectorate home to the Full Tilt servers. Following the events of Black Friday and Full Tilt’s continued failure to pay back jilted customers, the island’s gambling commission suspended their license. This shut down one of the biggest former U.S. gambling clients and best mac poker sites. The public hearing will take place in London.
“Whether Full Tilt Poker is opened or closed on the 27th, players will have good reason to be playing poker on paddypowerpoker.com,” said a communications spokesman for Paddy Power. “Either way it’s a no lose situation for our punters and poker players as they get paid one way or the other regardless of the outcome.”
