The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) has become quite the destination for poker players over the past four years. The PCA serves as the kick-off event at the start of the year for the European Poker Tour (EPT) which is also run by PokerStars. In the past four years PokerStars has paid out nearly $10 million in first place prizes to the winners of the prestigious PCA Main Event. Perhaps the PCA is a big reason why PokerStars has a larger player base than the Titan Poker download.

The PCA takes place on Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas, offering players quite the setting if they’re not in the mood to play any more poker tournaments. The location is quite famous and has even been the location of filming! The James Bond movie Casino Royale was filmed at the Ocean Club on Paradise Island in 2006.

The 2012 PCA started just a few days ago, and it’s shaping up to be quite the series with 41 tournaments over 10 days. Those tournaments include the $10,300 No Limit Hold’em Main Event (which has already started), the $25,500 No Limit Hold’em 8-Max High Roller Event with Re-Entry and the $100,000 No Limit Hold’em 8-Max Super High Roller Event with Re-Entry (which is already finished). On top of that there are tons of tournaments at $2,000 or under with numerous variations to the tournaments. Rounding out the variety will be the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em Women’s Event.

In 2011 players on the PokerStars download were given a chance to satellite into the PCA Main Event at the cost of just a few Frequent Player Points (FPPs). On top of that, players were able to start their path at the low cost of $1.10, making the event quite accessible for players. Many of the players in the Main Event now locked up their seats through PokerStars satellites.

The exciting tournament series kicked off on January 5th and ends on January 14th. Keep posted as there should be plenty of trip reports posted once the tournaments are over.
