It appears that legal online casinos for USA players aren’t going to be available anytime soon, but states are still working to bring intrastate online poker to life. In the meantime, options are limited for those wishing to play online poker in America.

When Black Friday first happened, the Merge Gaming Network was the most popular network still open to Americans. Bodog and Cake Poker were also options, but for some reason people preferred Merge. As a result, Bodog and Cake Poker did very poorly.

It looks like things might change for the Cake Poker download, however. It was announced early this month that Lock Poker was intending on leaving the Merge Gaming Network. They are planning on purchasing the Cake Poker Network which will then be controlled by the management of Lock Poker. The resulting network will be known as Revolution Gaming.

This change will affect Merge in a big way since Lock Poker currently accounts for 40% of Merge’s total traffic. At the same time, this change will help Cake Poker in ways that are absolutely huge. If you already play on Lock Poker, you don’t have to worry about too much fuss. The move will simply … READ MORE

If you play online poker, you have probably been following all the problems with Full Tilt Poker since last year. For a while everyone thought that Groupe Bernard Tapie might buy and rebuild the site, something that the poker community desperately needs. Not only would this ensure that people receive their money back, it also would provide a chance for Full Tilt to become one of the US poker sites available to Americans once again.

This solution no longer has any potential, however. Despite negotiations that went for as long as seven months, the U.S. Department of Justice and Groupe Bernard Tapie discontinued their talks as of late April. It is reported that the DOJ disliked how Groupe Bernard Tapie intended on paying players back. This comes as no surprise since the group was planning on forcing people with balances over $100 to play on the site to “earn” their money back. They were also going to be subjected to penalties for inactivity.

The death of one opportunity means the beginning of another, however. Surprisingly, the PokerStars download is rumored to be in talks with the DOJ to buy Full Tilt Poker. People think that they are doing this as … READ MORE

Since they have taken down three straight European Poker Tour events, it is safe to say that Danish poker players are absolutely dominating 2012 thus far. In the latest event, Jannick Wrang had to work really hard to keep the streak going. Not only did he have the pressure of a big time final table situation to deal with, but he also had a talented final table to beat.

Wrang created quite the story as he paid his way into the tournament by qualifying online for only $309. This can make quite a bit of sense for a player on a budget, so keep that in mind the next time you want to play a big event. Sites such as the Titan Poker download offer satellites to big events in Europe all the time.

While you can go just about anywhere in the world to gamble, there are few places like Campione. You can play for life changing money there, whether it’s via brick-and-mortar gambling or Internet slots. While Campione is technically located in Switzerland, it is looked at as an Italian municipality as it is located only 1 kilometer from the Italian border.

Players like Balazs “birs320” Botond … READ MORE

When you look at the remaining players at a No Limit Hold’em tournament final table, you rarely if ever pick the lesser known players to win. The experienced players often hold a big edge over them unless there’s a big difference in chip stacks. Even then it can be tough for the inexperienced players to hold off their more experienced counterparts.

However, once in a while the inexperienced players are able to get a leg up on their opponents, so to speak. Some of them come into a final and muster all the effort they can without getting frozen up by the money at stake. That’s what two amateurs did at the 2012 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament as they outlasted four long-time professional poker players. Instead of making a video poker download, Moon Kim and Ubaid Habib chose to play – and win – a big live tournament.

Kim and Habib entered the major final table toward the top of the leaderboard, putting them in a fantastic position to win some big money at the final table. To win that kind of money they would have to beat out some extremely talented professionals in Americans Joe Serock, … READ MORE

When you ask someone who plays poker tournaments why they play them, you’ll often hear because they dream of one day winning a prestigious major live tournament. The World Series of Poker has served as motivation for countless players across the world that dream of one day hoisting a bracelet above their head. It usually means winning hundreds of thousands of dollars and sometimes even more. For quite some time Mickey “mementmori” Petersen has been known as one of the best online tournament professionals. Hailing from Copenhagen, he has become one of the most prominent pros from Denmark. Petersen was recently finally able to satisfy his dream of winning a live tournament, and he even did it in his hometown.

Petersen has garnered much respect in the past few years due to his work ethic and poker brilliance. His live tournament results haven’t been anywhere near his online results but that is due mostly to entering less than one hundred live tournaments in his career. Prior to his victory at EPT Copenhagen, his best result in the live arena was 15th place in a $1,500 World Series of Poker event in the summer of 2011. If you’d like your chance … READ MORE

Many American poker players got their hopes up just last month thanks to speculation that an online poker bill might get piggybacked onto a payroll tax bill. This is very similar to the way the UIGEA was passed: it was tacked onto the SAFE Port Act back in 2006. Players were greatly disappointed, however, because Harry Reid, the Nevada Senator, declared that there would be no online poker bill for now.

Rumors started flying by mid February of this mysterious bill that might bring legal online poker in America one step closer. Many people are dreaming of being able to make a Ladbrokes poker download in the U.S. in the near future, but it clear that it won’t be anytime soon. Players can still currently play on Merge and Cake, but is it a matter of time before these sites are also forced to shut down?

It appears that the discussion for legalized online casinos for USA players is now on the back burner. The payroll tax bill is extremely complicated, so it’s of little surprise that the online poker bill cannot be tacked on. After all, any online poker bill is sure to be just as complicated, as will … READ MORE

The World Series of Poker, the biggest and most famous poker series around, has put out the schedule for 2012. The festivities get started on May 27th, and the last day of play (for the summer) is July 26th. In total there are 61 bracelet events, and there is, as usual, a huge variety to choose from. Poker enthusiasts from around the world will leave the best Euro poker sites for a few weeks as they travel to Vegas seeking a huge score.

Just recently the November Nine was announced as being dead by the WSOP, which was great news to many in the poker industry. What they quickly found out, though, is that it has been moved to October 28th, instead, due to the upcoming U.S. elections. This is pretty disappointing to those that think delaying the Main Event final table is a bad idea.

Perhaps the November Nine detractors will be cheered up by the creation of some brand new WSOP events. The first new event is Event 3, a $3,000 heads-up No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha mixed tournament. Then there is Event 6, a $5,000 Mixed Max tournament. Mixed Max features No Limit Hold’em and … READ MORE

Former PokerStars pro Joe Hachem has become a representative for the Asian Poker Tour. Arguably Australia’s most famous poker player, he is known for winning the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2005 for $7.5 million. He then spent the next six years as a member of Team PokerStars Pro, inspiring amateur players everywhere to give up Deal or No Deal online in favor of poker.

Hachem decided to give up his status of PokerStars pro because he wanted to spend more time with his family. While he was part of Team PokerStars, he was traveling very frequently because he had to play in all sorts of big buy-in poker events. When he didn’t re-sign with the site, some thought he might start earning his income via the best Mac poker sites. Instead, he made this most recent deal.

Hachem has entered into a partnership with AsianLogic, a company that runs online casinos and poker rooms for Asia. Hachem is one of many that believe that Asia, Australia, and Australasia are untapped markets with the potential for a poker boom. By signing with AsianLogic, Hachem hopes to represent the Asian Poker Tour and speed up the growth of … READ MORE

UltimateBet, also known as UB, was one of the largest US poker sites before April 15, 2011. The story of this site had previously gone a bit cold after April 15th, the date now referred to as Black Friday by the American online poker playing community.

While it was well known that they had not been paying U.S. customers and were barely paying their small amount of remaining funds to international customers, not much has been heard from or about the company in quite some time. However, that all changed on January 19, 2012 when a new lawsuit against the parent company of UltimateBet came to light.

A group of 8 poker players filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in California against 6356095 Canada Inc., which used to be known as Excapsa Software Inc. The group are alleging that Excapsa, as well as up to 10 Jane or John Does, violated the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.

On top of that, Excapsa is being accused of defrauding players and exhibiting negligence which enabled over $20 million to be stolen from the many players who frequented high stakes cash games during UltimateBet’s most popular period.

The group … READ MORE

Generally speaking, as a tournament buy-in increases in size, so does the skill level of the field. It doesn’t come as much of a surprise that there was a very small field for the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $100,000 Super High Roller NL Hold’em event. With only 30 people participating, it was guaranteed that some of the best players in the world were going to be fighting for the $1.25 million first place prize.

There was an optional rebuy in this event, and only two people took it: Jonathan Duhamel and Bill Perkins. Day two saw Issac Haxton start the day as chip leader, but he was unable to make it to Day 3 alive. Do you think the Internet phenom went to his room to make a PokerStars install once he was done for the day?

Galen Hall was the chip leader going into Day 3 with just 7 people remaining. Hall is famous for winning the PCA Main Event in 2011 after beating tournament pro Chris Oliver. He took home $2.3 million for his efforts.

PokerStars had a myriad of pros at the final table: Humberto Brenes, Danial Negreanu, Duhamel, and Viktor Blom. You might better know Blom … READ MORE
